I woke up in the middle of the night to a dream of one of my
boys crying. I rushed into the boys’ room only to find them fast asleep, and
the source of the sound being my husband's snores. Returning to bed, I’m wide
awake, laying there at 3:34 AM listening to the logger next to me. Ever since
my kids were born I’ve been a light sleeper and most times falling back asleep
is a challenge. My mind has a habit of starting to wander when I wake up during
the wee hours of the night, and for this reason I always keep pen and paper
next to my bed, to be able to write down my worries, concerns and at times,
brilliant ideas.
Last night it went like this; “Don’t forget to print out
Form 17 for the listing… (well, I never would but at 3:38 AM it seemed important),
flyers… don’t forget to print them lighter to make them look better, stack
signs, key box is already there… Throw zip ties in the car in the morning. Oh
no, I haven’t done anything in regard to the twins’ birthday! Need to push Saturday’s
interview back by one hour. What do I need for it… look at stats, do we have the
new numbers in yet… Holy moly, it’s May 3rd and I have completely
forgotten about the newsletter. So, I sit up, and write everything down before finally
drifting back into my slumber.
When the alarm goes of at 6 AM, I have my list ready. By
noon, half of it is done, no sorry, most of it is done. The boys will be doing
a movie with their friends, all the things that had to be printed have been
printed and put into their sheet protectors and everything is just about ready
for the push of a button to go live on NWMLS.
A year ago, I was just getting started and my busy was busy meaning
all the classes I was taking and all my office training. Today, busy looks a
bit different but I find it somewhat suitable that exactly a year after my
first open house, I am going to spend the weekend hosting open houses at this
beautiful new listing, my first one.
