No Stress

It's the most wonderful time of the year, or is it?

As much as I love the holidays, I have to admit that this tends to also be a season of added stress, and I have a feeling I’m not alone. In many ways it’s good kind of stress, but nevertheless, every year I find myself juggling school events, holiday parties, Christmas presents, wrapping paper, friends and work. Last night there was a UPS commercial on TV, and I could not help but laugh out loud as every single year my intentions of beautifully, and thoughtfully wrapped presents end up realizing as something quite else, and the dream of wrapping in candle light and a glass of wine turns into the battle on the cold garage floor and sleepless nights. At least, now I’m supposedly the master of my own schedule. Supposedly.

Before last day of school, there will be four or five school events – not counting weekly volunteering, a couple of holiday parties, one fundraiser, and two birthdays. It’s all fun. I mean really fun, and besides one of the birthdays is my own, but I don’t know where to stick the girls’ night I had secretly planned or all the other things I really wanted to do. If it sounds like I’m complaining, I’m really not. I just wish there would be more time between Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. I’m usually pretty good with my time management, and life tends to flow in a good way, but when you try to stick two months’ worth of events into two weeks it gets somewhat tricky.

But there’s really no way to miss any of the fun, so I’m going to brave it all. So here we come; Nutcracker, wreath making class, Rachel’s awesome party, knitting club party, Mia’s concert, Judah’s birthday, Toys for Tots, book club, toy maker… and a few more.

But hey, the tree is up, our home is decked and the kids are enjoying every moment of Elf on the Shelf.

Twas the two weeks before Winter Break.
