Have you ever seen a well inspection? Neither had I. I had
seen a well sometime in my childhood, I even remember getting water out of a
well with a bucket attached to a long pole, but the fact that the old-fashioned
wells still exist, and are used for everyday domestic water for that matter,
that was news to me, as I thought those would be something for summer cottages
somewhere up in the mountains if even that. And as it comes to the inspection
part, all new to me. I watched the guy pull off the lid and measure the water
level with a plain measuring tape reporting there was 18 inches of water in the
well, my initial thoughts were not something I could publish. He told us he was
going to pump the well dry, and I think all of us, standing around that well
thought it wouldn’t take very long. However, 200 gallons later the water level
of the well was still at 18 inches, and it had been established that the well
we were looking at was not about to dry out. Instead there was a soaked-up lawn
and probably some swimming moles down the holes in the lawn. If you ever need a
well inspection in the Greater Seattle area, let me know, as I have the guy for
you.
Yesterday I took a day off with the kiddos, meaning I packed
a cooler, plenty of towels, a magazine, my two phones and the computer in the
car, and we hit the beach. We spent the entire day with friends at Pine Lake,
and enjoyed every single moment – maybe not changing into my dress out of the
wet swimmers in the tiny dressing room, but everything else. Did not need the
laptop, but did answer a couple of emails from my phone. There's never enough food when you're at the beach, I mean for reals. I had packed sandwiches, string cheese, crackers, protein bars, cookies, fruit leather, fruit snacks and popcorn, and was told we did not have an adequate amount of food for 5 hours.
We had a nice day, and
I felt way less guilty this morning, when I packed everyone in my Volvo heading
to a 2-hour meeting at the office. No one complained, as Max found the iPad he
lost weeks ago in his backpack, and everyone got two hours of electronics while
I was discussing the Agency Disclosure Law Pamphlet with our office newbies. Suddenly,
I am now longer the one that just started, and it’s kind of amazing to realize
that I know the answers to most of their questions.
My open houses this weekend got canceled due to the listing
being under contract. The inventory is dry, but homes still sell rather fast.
The property my client landed, was on the market for 4 long days, so even if it
looks like things are slowing down, they really aren’t. Not that much. Today
when I walked past the sign in front of our office, the one stating the number
of sales, I suddenly realized that my sale was one of them.
