I’m working from home today. That’s really no news but the
fact that it’s Wednesday, end of July and I’m home alone is. It’s surprising how
much one can get done when the continuous: “Mom, mom, mom!” gets replaced by
the sound of the A/C and Martha chewing her bully stick. I have gone through
listings for my clients, looked at comparable properties, answered clients’
questions, worked on contracts and now I’m writing. Well, I did do some
tweeting and facebooking and linkedining too.
Later today I’ll have an interview with Five Star
Professional. I have been nominated for an award as a “2018 Rising Star Real
Estate Agent”, last week the organization called me and wanted to schedule a
time to chat. Earlier when answering their questionnaire, I realized how busy I
have been these past 15 months. But to be nominated for an award, that was a
bit unexpected, me, for an award that only around 60 brokers out of 25,000 real
estate brokers in our state receive this year.
One of my kids asked the other day what ambition meant, my
answer was something along the line of wanting to do an exceptionally good job
at what ever you choose to do. Do I want to get paid in the end? Yes, however
my primary goal is to be great at what I do because I have a firm belief that
it will serve me way better in the long run than just getting paid. Being great
does not only mean a large number of transactions, but also clients that feel
like they have received real estate services that were above and beyond their
expectations. This also what I’m preaching when I teach classes at my office,
always be at your very best. Always offer the same exceptional level of service
whether your client’s budget is $300K or $3 million.
This is how Webster’s defines the word ambition:
(æmˈbɪʃən ; ambishˈən)
noun
1. a strong desire to gain a particular objective; specif.,
the drive to succeed, or to gain fame, power, wealth, etc.
2. the objective strongly desired
